About Caley

In addition to covering the Tampa Bay Lightning as the team's hockey reporter and Fox Sports Sun correspondent, Caley has covered and reported on a variety of different professional sporting events ranging from the NHL Winter Classic, NHL Awards, NFL Draft, NBA games, Arena Football, and Olympics at the United States Olympic Training Center. 

Caley spent time growing up in both Chicago and Detroit playing hockey, volleyball and lacrosse which helped lay the foundation for her successful career in sports journalism. As a multi-sport athlete in a family of competitors, Caley's passion for sports runs deep in her blood.

 

She is the daughter of Hall-of-Fame NHL defensemen Chris Chelios, and one of four kids to play a division I sport at the collegiate level. Caley offers a knowledgable and interesting perspective into the world of sports given her background and experience as a former athlete.

 

Caley returned to her roots in Chicago where she studied communications and sociology at Northwestern University. She was a four-year member of the women's lacrosse team, juggling a rigorous academic course load while playing for one of the most elite and winningest lacrosse team's in the country. She received various academic accolades during her time as a student athlete including All-Big Ten Honors in 2013, 2014 and 2015. 

Caley furthered her education attending graduate school at Northwestern, Medill School of Journalism where she earned a Masters in Journalism with a concentration if broadcast and video. Caley enhanced her skills in writing, editing, producing and on-camera work at Medill covering a wide range of news and sporting events on a daily basis.

 

Caley was offered a role as a production assistant with Comcast Sports Net, and a broadcast reporting role with the Chicago Wolves AHL team upon graduating before being hired to work for the Lightning.
